A few days back there were rumours that ace director AR Murgadoss has agreed to do another remake from south to Hindi.

He was to remake Surinder Reddy’s Telugu hit Kick with Salman Khan and Deepika Padukone for producer Sajid Nadiadawala.

When contacted, Murgadoss said: “ I do not know from where these rumours emanate, as it is totally baseless. I have not even seen this Telugu film, and I will never remake another director’s regional film into Hindi. As of now I’m working to complete the script of my next film with Suriya in Tamil for producer Udayanidhi Stalin.”

Murgadoss also denied rumours that he has signed Katrina Kaif to play Suriya’s heroine in the forthcoming film. “ For the heroine’s girl I wanta newcomer and I would prefer a Tamil girl who can dub in her own voice and can emote, as it is crucial for my story.”

Deepika is reckoned to be from the Shah Rukh Khan camp, as she debuted in Om Shanti Om (2007), so producer Sajid Nadiadwala wasn't sure if she will consent to co-star with Shah Rukh rival Salman. But the young actress displayed professionalism and readily accepted the film. She said her dream was to work with Bollywood Superstar Salman Khan.

Deepika has just completed filming for Nadiadwala production, Housefull with co-star Akshay Kumar.

Interestingly Nadiadwala said, "We were very clear about not getting the original Telugu director as I don't believe in letting the South Indian directors do the Hindi remakes."

As to his reason for picking Murugadoss, Nadiadwala says:

"I loved Murugadoss' work in Ghajini and so did Salman."

Ironically, Murugadoss is a director from the South and did a fantastic job with the Hindi remake of Ghajini after directiing the Tamil original!

Kick (2009) is a Telugu action romance drama directed by Surender Reddy, starring Ravi Teja. Its a story of a man who loves challenges in life and does things to get kick out of them.

The Hindi adaptation will be written by Abhijat Joshi (Munnabhai and co-writer of 3 Idiots).

Salman has been very excited about Kick as the film has both action and romance, genres that Salman is good at.

Ravi Teja’s film “Kick” produced by Venkat under the banner of RR Movie Makers and directed by Surender Reddy has been a major hit at the box office. This film is now being remade in Hindi and Tamil.

Bollywood producer Sajid Nadiadwala has purchased the Hindi remake rights and according to sources Salman Khan will be the hero. The actor has already tasted huge success with “Wanted Dead Or Alive” which was also a remake of Telugu film “Pokiri”.

The Tamil remake rights have been purchased by Editor Mohan and Jayam Ravi will play the hero.
