After the success of his last film ‘Wanted’ Boney Kapoor is kicked about the idea of remaking one more south Indian film in Hindi along with the dynamic Prabhu Dheva and Bollywood Superstar Salman Khan jodi.

According to sources Boney Kapoor saw a Malayalam film ‘Bodyguard’ in Ernakulam and has been in awe of it. It is also believed that Kapoor had a meeting with Johnny Sagarika, producer of ‘Bodyguard’.

Buzz is that Boney is planning to rope in Prabhu Deva yet again to direct this film with Salman Khan in the title role. When asked, Boney Kapoor confirmed saying, “Yes I went to Ernakulam during my visit to Chennai and saw ‘Bodyguard’ as Prabhu recommended it. It’s a good film but I didn’t go with an intention to buy its rights. Its director Siddhique is quite known and has made a lot of good films. Priyadarshan has remade most his films in Hindi.”

Boney ensures that he will be soon working with Salman and Prabhu Dheva. “I’ll be working with them but if you ask me particularly about ‘Bodyguard’, I am not sure as I am yet to decide about its Hindi remake.”

Bollywood Superstar Salman Khan is keen to be part of Mr. India 2, even if it entails playing villain! However, the filmmakers feel challenged casting Salman in negative role.

Franchise owner Boney Kapoor tells to Media:

"Mogambo was a perfect villain for those times. He died at the end of Mr India. So that's the end of him. Salman has said that he wants to be part of Mr India 2 in any capacity, even as a villain. It would be a big challenge to project Salman as a negative character, a first for him."

The film is finally beginning to take shape with Anees Bazmee having been picked as the helmer.

Earlier Shekhar Kapur, who had helmed the 1987 hit, was to wield the baton again but he and the producer have had a falling apart.

Anil Kapoor and Sridevi, the lead pair in the original, have been confirmed for the sequel.

Producer Boney Kapoor has confirmed that Bollywood Superstar Salman Khan will be playing the villain’s role in “Mr. India 2”. He refused to comment any further as the script is still to be finalized. For the first time in his career, Salman will play a villain on the lines of Amrish Puri, whose portrayal of Mogambo in “Mr. India” is iconic.

“Mr. India 2” marks Sridevi’s comeback and will also star Anil Kapoor. The film will be directed by Anees Bazmee. Salman and Boney share a very good bond. In fact, they got along very well during the making of their film “Wanted”. So when Salman heard that Boney was planning a sequel to “Mr. India”, he expressed a desire to star in the film.

Boney told Anees about casting Salman in the film, and Anees could not think of anything better than the role of the unforgettable Mogambo.Salman is only too happy to play a negative character in the film as it will have a completely different look.

According to the buzz, Salman will be playing a terrorist who wants to rule over India and the story will be about how Anil Kapoor, Sridevi and their gang try to free the country with the help of an invention made by Anil Kapoor.

Salman Khan starrer “Wanted” has become a hit in single screen theatres and it’s celebration time for producer Boney Kapoor who is happy making film for the masses and says let Aditya Chopra make films for multiplexes.

“Wanted” didn’t get favourable reviews from the critics but has done good business by earning about Rs.38 crore across the country in its first week. Surprisingly, it is the single screens where the movie has fared well — compared to the multiplexes — by generating 70 percent business.

“Let Aditya Chopra make films for multiplexes. I’m happy reaching out to the masses,” Kapoor told IANS.

“The collections of ‘Wanted’ speak for themselves. In the first week it has done better business than ‘Kambakkht Ishq’ did in its entire run. There was gun-firing between two sections of clashing Salman fans in a theatre named Rishi in Bulandshahr,” he added.

Commenting on why Yash Raj Films’ “Dil Bole Haddipa” didn’t do well, Kapoor said: “Their intended USP was the Punjabi culture. Ironically the film didn’t even open well in Punjab. How does one explain this?

“Their other USP was Rani Mukerji dressed as a man. But old-time heroines like Asha Parekh and Saira Banu have done that long ago. And they were buxom ladies therefore tantalising in their cross-dressing. With due respects to her amazing talent Rani looked like a school boy.”

He also feels that corporatisation of the film industry is not working in favour of filmmakers.

“The corporatised culture that has seeped into filmmaking is not working. The corporate guys know only about paper work, nothing about filmmaking. We need individual producers with vision to bail the industry out of its present crisis. I’ve made 30 films, but I still feel I’ve just started with ‘Wanted’,” he said.

As far as a “Wanted” party is concerned, Kapoor says they will party as soon as director Prabhudeva is back in town. “Our director Prabhudeva got caught up in an assignment in Kerala. So we’ve postponed the party for next week. We can’t celebrate without Prabhu.”

Apart from the “No Entry” sequel, Kapoor will also start a film with his wife Sridevi. “If I don’t, her fans will kill me. I’ve heard a script I’ve liked.”

Basking in joy with the success of ‘Wanted’, Boney Kapoor and Salman Khan is desired to continue the hit run and so Boney has decided to rope in Salman again for the ‘No Entry’ sequel. The box office record of ‘No Entry’ was not so promising but even the filmmakers have decided to go for the sequel considering Salman’s popularity.

Confirming the news, Boney said, “It will be called ‘Be Positive - No Entry Part 2’. If you remember, Anil Kapoor kept saying Be positive’ throughout No Entry".

The sequel will be directed by Anees Bazmee and will have double role of three heroes Salman, Anil and Fardeen. The film will have the same three girls, Lara Dutta, Celina Jaitley and Esha Deol and three new heroines will be finalized for the double roles.

The film will go on floor by next year.

Thank God! Film lovers can now look forward to have good time next week, as Salman Khan's much-hyped film Wanted, is releasing as scheduled on September 18. The Supreme Court has granted reprieve to producer Boney Kapoor on the financial dispute, and thus paved the way for the release of the film.

The court allowed the release of the film after Boney Kapoor offered to deposit Rs.2 crore with the Bombay High Court as surety.


Salman's Wanted almost failed to see the light of day after L M B Holdings Limited, a B4U group company, claimed the rights to Wanted for an advance of Rs.10 crore paid in 2007 to produce films on joint venture.

Boney started making Wanted before he could strike a deal with L M B Holdings Limited. He was supposed to return the money within 90 days, as they failed to seal the agreement, but he didn't do so. Meanwhile, L M B Holdings Limited demanded the money only after one year and three months, claiming that it would have the rights of at least five films of the producer, including Wanted, if the money is not returned.

The Bombay High Court through an interim order had earlier asked Boney Kapoor to deposit Rs 10 crore with the court's registry as a security deposit. But the producer challenged the order and took the matter to the Supreme Court.

Highly impressed with the outcome of Boney Kapoor’s ‘Wanted’, Salman Khan expressed his desire to do another film with the producer. The film is reported to be directed by Boney Kapoor’s son Arjun Kapoor.

A source reveals, "Salman caught a rough cut of Wanted last week and he was blown away with the end result. His confidence in the film has grown by leaps and bounds. After the unofficial trial show of the film, he called Boney and congratulated him on making a potential blockbuster."

Salman is so happy with ‘Wanted’ that he wanted to give something in return to Boney and what could be a better gift than a film. The source adds, "Bhai told Boney that he should start a new film with him in the lead immediately. He even said that he doesn't care about the story or the script or the leading lady. He wants to pay Boney back and keep him by doing his next. It is also believed that Boney's son Arjun Kapoor who has a close alliance to Sallu in all probability direct the new film."
