Sridevi Kapoor, proprietor of Sri Devi Productions, her husband Boney Kapoor of Narasimha Enterprises and father-in-law Surendra Kapoor of SK Films Enterprises, on Friday, gave an undertaking that they would deposit Rs 3 crore to the credit of a suit before the trial court on or before September 16 this year for the release of their Hindi feature film Wanted

Earlier, on August 27, 2009, Justice G Rajasuriya had passed interim orders on an application arising out of a civil suit from Sushil Gupta of GG Photo Limited and others to jointly and severally furnish bank guarantee or deposit a cash amount of Rs 3.60 crore and furnish immovable property security for another Rs 5.40 crore on or before September 16, failing which they would be restrained from releasingthe film

In their appeal to a division bench comprising Justices M Chockalingam and R Subbiah, Sridevi and others submitted that they had effected substantial payments to Sushil Gupta towards repayment of a loan. The entire transaction had taken place in Mumbai and no part of the cause of action had arisen in Chennai. Hence, the single judge order lacked jurisdiction.

Further, third party rights were also involved in the film Wanted. The single judge order, which set out no reason, was exfacie erroneous. Now Sridevi Kapoor has accepted to give Rs.3 cr to release the film immediately. Directed by Prabhu Deva, the film has Salman Khan - Ayesha Takia
